A veces , tambien queremos citar alguna pregunta que formulo alguna persona. Para ello hacemos los mismos cambios de tiempo en los verbos, pronombres y adverbios de tiempo y lugar vistos anteriormente ( posts estilo indirecto 1, 2,3 ) . La pregunta se pasaria a estilo indirecto de dos formas:
- Si uso una QUestion word ( where, when, what. . . )’When are you arriving?’
He asked me when I was arriving ( EL me pregunto cuando llegaba)
- Si no hay question word , usamos if o whether
Do you understand?
He asked her if / whether she understood. ( El le pregunto si lo entendia)
Para escribir el estilo indirecto, no hemos usado said, hemos usado ASKED , que significa pregunto. Tambien podemos usar la estructura want to know.
‘Are you enjoying yourself? ‘ Mr Jones asked
Mr Jones wanted to know if I was enjoying myself. ( Mr Jones queria saber si estaba pasandolo bien)
