Verbos modales que indican PERMISO Y PROHIBICION

• CAN // CAN’T ( significa poder hacer algo )

Es la forma mas comun para indicar permiso y prohibicion.

Can I use the phone, please? ( ¿Puedo usar el telefono?) PERMISO
In Spain you can’t leave school until the age of 16.( En España no puedes dejar el colegio hasta los 16 años) PROHIBICION

NOTA
May I…? SIGNIFICA LO MISMO QUE Can I …? pero es mas formal y mas cortes.

• OTRAS EXPRESIONES DE PERMISO

1. You are allowed to buy cigarettes when you are 18. ( Puedes comprar digarros a partir de los 18)
TO BE ALLOWED TO + INFINITIVO significa PODER

2. We were only permitted to take photographs in certain places. ( Solo nos permitieron, dejaron hacer fotos en ciertos lugares)
TO BE PERMITED TO + INFINITIVO SIGNIFICA PERMITIR, DEJAR, PODER**

3. My parents let me stay out late at weekends. ( Mis padres me dejan salir hasta tarde los fines de semana)
LET + INFINITIVO SIGNIFICA DEJAR HACER ALGO

• OTRAS EXPRESIONE SPARA PROHIBICION

1. You aren’t allowed to go abroad without passport. ( No puedes salor al extranjero sin pasaporte)

2.Smoking is not permitted in most cinemas ( Fumar no esta permitido en la mayoria de cines)

**3.You are not permitted to smoke in this theatre. ( No puedes fumar en este teatro)

4.People are forbidden to smoke on the Underground. ( A la gente se le prohibe fumar en el metro)
TO BE FORBIDDEN TO + INFINITIVO SIGNIFICA ESTAR PROHIBIDO

5. The workers have been prohibited from striking ( a los trabajadores se les ha prohibido ir a la huelga)
TO BE PROHIBITED FROM SOMETHING SIGNIFICA PROHIBIR ALGO A ALGUIEN

6. Nigel has been banned from driving for six months ( A nigel se le ha prohibido conducir durante 6 meses)
TO BE BANNED FROM SOMETHING SIGNIFICA PROHIBIR ALGO A ALGUIEN
